A ceremony was held on Wednesday 8th January 2026, in Goma to honor the victims of a drone bombing carried out by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) on January 2, 2026, in Masisi-Centre.

The bodies of the victims were honored at the Unité Stadium before their burial in Mubambiro, in Masisi territory. Bereaved families, members of the local population, and AFC/M23 leadership were present.

The attack killed 23 civilians. It received no international condemnation. No UN Security Council statement was issued. No European Parliament resolution followed. The silence is not accidental — it reflects a consistent pattern in which civilian deaths in AFC-controlled territory are not counted in the same moral ledger as deaths elsewhere. These lives, the silence communicates, don't matter.
